Portrettet: Kimberly

Hi, my name is Kim Brown from North Bay Ontario Canada and I’m closing in on 47 real soon. Mom of two fabulous children and a Grandma of one. I answer to Mom, Kim Kimmy, Kimbob, Kimmer, Kimberly, and grandma of course.

I’m the owner of JUSTWORDZ.CA and have a small line of sentiment stamps.

I started scrapbooking when my daughter and I went for a trip to California to see the Price is Right. What a trip that was, the memories we had just screamed to be put in an album. To this day we still talk about that trip. I must say the album took some time to finish but the reward of completion and the look on my daughters face was priceless.

After I was done all my supplies were put away for over two years. One day while surfing the net I came across some handmade cards and a light bulb went off in my head….WHY didn’t I think of that…so out came all the supplies and I’ve been making cards for just over a year now and lovin it.

I since found the medium I love most to create my cards. I love to color with promarkers. I can get the look I like with the depth that I couldn’t quite manage with coloured pencils. I created a small line of sentiment stamps that you can mix and match to create a bucket load of sentiments. While visiting many bloggers I found many pun type stamp sayings and I just wanted simple words to use as sentiments. So that’s how JUSTWORDZ came about. Currently I have three sets available. Everyday sentiments, Party Time and Christmas Season that is available for purchase. You can find the link on my blog.

There are so many wonderful digital images I’ve found over the past year online that I just can’t live without. I do have a few favourite artists as you can see by my image choices today and over the last few months that I’ve displayed on my blog.

I do work hard to add more to my card designs. I’m shy with embellishments and have trouble deciding how much is too much to use. I tend to keep it simple. Unfortunately I usually color the image first and choose paper after the fact. I wish I could learn to do it the other way around. It would save me tons of time if I picked the paper first and then coloured the image with matching colors. Such is life eh?

I just finished redoing my craft room and love spending time in a well organized space. I follow over 600 blogs (crazy I know, but love it all the same) and I have to say they are the most talented creative ladies. What people come up with just amazes me. They all inspire me to try new things and create different looks.

Well my favourite products include…promarkers, Redonkulous Designs (created by my niece, oh so very talented.), Saturated Canary designs. Justwordz sentiment stamps,  a little plug for me:0)….die-namics, cricut, atg gun, cuttle bug/folders, punches, buttons, flowers, twine, ribbon, ribbon, and ribbon…need I say more. These items are used almost daily.

The only thing I regret purchasing is probably the Martha steward circle cutter. I have the most difficult time with this tool. I always end up moving the paper and I have to redo quite often…the circuit or punches have replaced the need for this tool. Another thing would be large paper stacks. They are great for scrapbooking where you use full pages but for card making, patterns are usually too large and they have up to 4 sheets of the same print and it’s hard to use the same paper over and over.

Currently I’m on Passion For Promarkers Design Team,  which is so fantastic to be chosen from so many wonderful creators. I run my own design team for JUSTWORDZ stamps,  and was a guest designer for Kimmie Kraftin Stamps in December…I would just love to be considered for my all time favourite artist, Krista Smith of Saturated Canary. That would be amazing…Here are a couple of pictures of my most favourite cards. Hope you enjoy and hope to see you blogging…
